Co-operation between Nordic States and Estonia: contributing to Single European Sky development

During the last ten-fifteen years Estonian ANS has been fruitfully co-operating with the neighbouring Service Providers.

The real co-operation in the area of Air Traffic Management started in January 2005 when Estonian ANS and ANS Providers of the Nordic states – LFV (Sweden), FINAVIA (Finland), Avinor (Norway), ISAVIA (Iceland), Naviair (Denmark) signed their Memorandum of Co-operation. It was the first step towards the implementation of the Single European Sky Concept initiated by the European Commission.

The common goal of the co-operation between the Nordic Air Navigation Service Providers is to provide harmonised and cost efficient services to the customers, with primary focus on safety and quality of the services. Geographically the NEAP area stretches from Greenland to the state border of the Russian Federation.
In the beginning of 2007, when Irish CAA joined the Nordic Cooperation, the project got a new name – North European ANSP cooperation – NEAP.

When LGS (Latvian ANS Provider - in 2009) and NATS ( National Air Traffic Services – UK – in 2010) joined the NEAP initiative, the Memorandum of Cooperation was updated and signed.
