Today, on 18.03.2010, at 10.18 (local time ) a flight accident took place with a Polish cargo aeroplane AN-26. The cargo flight was coming from Helsinki with intention to land at Tallinn aerodrome and was making an approach to land from the area over the village of Loo. One of its engines didn’t operate, the plane drifted from track to the left and during landing the plane experienced a problem with the landing gear. The aircraft had to go around; after that the crew performed emergency landing on the ice of Ülemiste lake.
According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications nobody was injured in this incident.
The provision of air traffic services at Tallinn airport was terminated for half an hour due to rescue activities. Presently the provision of air traffic services is back to normal.
